Why Bicycle Directional Signals

Every 2 wheel vechicle, truck, motor scooter, motor cycle throughout the world requires directional signals.  Why directional signals?

Simply the directional signals are mandatory and have been since the late 1960s.

As you might expect when a crash occurs between a motor vehicle and a bicycle, it is the bicycle rider who is most likely to be injured.

The 3 bike hand signals require that you take your left hand off of the bicycle steering column to signal. 

This in itself causes more accident than almost anything else.

Not long ago a friend was out riding on a city street and was making a right turn, she put out her left hand to show the car

behind her she was turning and a car in the opposite direction was making a left turn when a collision occurred between the car and

my friend.  My friend was severely injured with broken bones and a permanent lifetime injuries.

Had she had bicycle directional signals on her bicycle that injury would not occur.
